Crime Alerts Network Database
Crime prevention is an integral part of police work. Since February 2022, the Crime Prevention Bureau (CPB) has set up the Crime Alerts Network (CAN). With the use of a popular instant messaging application, crime alerts produced by different Force units are efficiently disseminated to a myriad of external working partners such as representatives of companies, organisations and associations before they are further conveyed to their staff or employees who may in turn further send to their friends and relatives – to the wider community. The crime alerts are sent out once or twice a week with a view of reaching to as many people as possible. As of February 2024, over two million people in Hong Kong are receiving the crime alerts every week.
